REPUBLICAN CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF HOVHANNES TUMANYAN HELD AT YSUIB

  On May 11, 2019, YSU Ijevan Branch hosted a republican conference dedicated to Hovhannes Tumanyan’s 150th anniversary organized by the Armenian Language and Literature Department.

 First, the guests enjoyed the works of students of the Faculty of Applied Arts of YSUIB, then the solemn opening of the conference took place.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of different spheres of the region, provincial and urban authorities, the Primate of Tavush diocese, Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, deputy governor of Tavush Tatul Stepanyan, guests from Great Britain, representatives of administrative and professorial staff of YSUIB  and students, directors and teachers of schools, art, banking, NGO, mas media representatives, and citizens.

 The conference was attended by researchers, professors, associate professors from YSU and Ijevan Branch of YSU, the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Shirak Center for Armenian Studies, Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Vanadzor State University.

 The Head of the Department of Armenian Language and Literature of Ijevan Branch of Yerevan State University, PhD, Associate Professor Vachagan Avagyan, Primate of Tavush Diocese, Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Acting Director of Ijevan Branch of Yerevan State University, PhD, Associate Professor Artak Tsutsulyan, Director of the Institute of Literature after M. Abeghyan, NAS RA  Vardan Devrikyan made an opening speech. They warmly welcomed the participants of the conference, conveyed gratitude for organising  such jubilee event and wished good luck to the work of the conference.

Then, at the Faculty of Applied Arts, reports were delivered by

  2. Devrikyan and L. Mirzoyan also donated their books to YSUIB Library.

Then the work of the conference continued in classrooms, in three departments.

 After the discussions, the participants moved to YSUIB consultation room to pass the certificates and close the conference.

 Summing up the results of the conference, Mr. Tsutsulyan conveyed his contentment and gratitude to the organizers of the conference, all the participants and especially researchers and professors from Yerevan, who not only made a major contribution to the fulfilment of the conference, but also greatly inspired the students from the border region,  away from the center (capital Yerevan).

AN EVENT DEDICATED TO THE 455TH ANNIVERSARY OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

On May 10, 2019,  YSU Ijevan Branch hosted an event dedicated to the 455th anniversary of William Shakespeare, organized by the Department of English Language and Literature.

The third year students of “Foreign Languages”, students of different specialties, as well as the professorial staff of the Department took a part in the event.

 Students introduced Shakespeare’s biography in English, his main works, some of his well- known tragedies, as well as sonets.

 In particular, it was mentioned William Shakespeare (baptized on April 26, 1564 to April 23, 1616) was an English playwright, actor and poet and is often called England’s national poet. Born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. Shakespeare’s plays have the reputation of being among the greatest in the English language and in Western literature. Traditionally, the plays are divided into the genres of tragedy, history, and comedy; they have been translated into every major livinglanuage, in addition to being continually performed all around the world.

 The participants also prepared translations of movie trailers based on Shakespeare’s writings.

 The event, dedicated to the 455th anniversary of Shakespeare, was held in an engaging and pleasant atmosphere.

INTELLECTUAL GAME COMPETITION HELD AT YSUIB

  On May 10, 2019, YSU Ijevan Branch hosted intellectual game team competition.

 8 teams took a part in the competition, including SSS 1 and Student Council 2 teams.  This time, students had a special opportunity to include not only the same course students, but also students of different courses, professions and faculties.  The goal of this format is to increase team efficiency.

 The jury members were Margarit Tamrazyan, second-year student of History, Arpine Martirosyan, first-year student of the same specialty, and Diana Sardaryan, a third-year student of Elementary Pedagogy and Methodology specialty.

 The Competition was held in one round, including  20 questions checking students logic and background knowledge.

 After a strong and persistent competition, the SPARTA team became the winner (Ghazumyan Larida, Ghalumyan Mher, Baldryan Alikhan, Kocharyan Nune, Melikbekyan Suren).

 SSS team took the  second place, and the first-year students of Elementary Pedagogy and Methodology became third place winners.

 The winning team was awarded with diplomas and souvenirs, second and third place winners, with diplomas and other teams with certificates.

SECOND AND THIRD-YEAR STUDENTS OF “CARTOGRAPHY AND CADASTRE” SPECIALTY VISITED THE METEOROLOGICAL AND HYDROLOGICAL STATIONS

 On May 9,2019, 2nd and 3rd- year students of the specialty “Cartography and Cadastre” accompanied by P. Asilbekyan, Assistant of the Department of Tourism Management and Culturology visited the Meteorological and Aghstev River basin hydrological stations within the framework of “Natural Resources Cadastre and Monitoring” program.

 Members of the staff of the station (headed by E. Sayadyan) warmly welcomed the universitarians and introduced them the work done.

 The students took a part in the monitoring, got acquainted with existing equipment and its working principles.  They participated in the work of air temperature, wind direction and velocity determination.  The 2nd and 3rd- year students also got acquainted with the principles of sunbathing (heliogue) and other equipment available (damp, soil thermometers, automatic moisture-sensitive equipment, etc.).

 After the meteorological station monitoring the students got acquainted with the hydrological work of the station.  The head of the station O. Iskandaryan introduced the monitoring works carried out at the station (water outlet measurements, nivilization, determination of depletion of the river, the principles of registering, etc.).

 At the end of the visit, students conveyed their gratitude to the station management and staff for their warm reception and practical strengthening of their knowledge.
