SUMMARY OF THE SEMINAR ON “GENERAL SKILLS OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT”

 On November 10-12th of 2018, the second stage of the seminar on “General Skills of Personal Development” for 30 young people from Tavush and Gegharkunik regions was held in “Arthurs Aghveran Resort” situated in Arzakan village of Kotayk Region.

The seminar was attended by YSUIB lecturer Slavik Alaverdyan, student Hrant Gharagyozyan, graduates Lilit Voskanyan, Anahit Atoyan, Aghavni Ghazaryan, Lusine Amiryan and Shushan Kharatyan.

The seminar was organized by the “Oxygen” Foundation and the Armenian representation of “Save the Children International” organization. The event was public youth initiative within the framework of the EU-funded project “EU for Youth, Skills for the Future”, implemented by the Armenian representation of “Save the Children International”.

300 young people aged 16-30 from all regions of Armenia and Yerevan participated in the seminar.

This time, the participants acquired knowledge about the importance of personal growth and development, planning of their own lives, and the ways of learning, critical thinking, creativity, and innovation.

The seminar was conducted by Zaruhi Lavchyan and Areg Tadevosyan, Milena Nahapetyan, worker of “Oxygen” Foundation, was in charge of organizational issues.

On the first day, the results of the previous seminar were summarized, the participants presented their impressions and skills to apply what they learned and then completed the questionnaire for non-formal learning results. The participants also performed a task and learned a new skill in 40 minutes (painting, composing, learning words in an unknown language, making magical tricks, etc).

On the second day, the participants recalled childhood dreams, analyzed their basic needs, classified them according to priorities, thought of some alternatives to fulfill them. The trainers presented web resources and platforms for participation and implementation of youth programs.

The third day was devoted to critical thinking and creativity. The participants learned when analyzing information, it was necessary to give the right questions, to separate facts from assumptions. The factors influencing creativity, characteristic features of creative people were presented. The participants performed a task to consider as many options as possible to use simple things.

The seminar was held in an interactive and engaging atmosphere.

At the end of the seminar, the young people who took part in the two stages of the seminar received certificates.

Some of the participants will soon have an opportunity to pass paid internships in a number of organizations.

SMALL GRANTS CONTEST 2018: THE CIVIC INITIATIVE FOR EDUCATION

6543b438ad191861 The Civic Initiative for education is pleased to announce the launch of small Grants competition for Individual Research in the following four thematic directions:

  • Right to education
  • Social justice
  • Participation
  • Critical Thinking

Who can apply?

The competition aims to find and encourage individual researchers concerned with education problems who want to participate through research in the process of improving the education policy.

The project also aims to promote self-organization, participation and engagement of education stakeholders.

The Grant Competition is open to all interested entities.

Application Procedure

All interested applicants must submit their research proposal application, including the following:

  1. Description of the problem / relevant to any of the mentioned themes /
  2. Research Methodology
  3. Expected results

To apply for a grant contest, please fill out the online application attached below.

Applicants are expected to develop policy documents / analytics based on research, within the context of the mentioned themes. Suggested analytics can address an event, problem or challenge related to any of the four themes (education right, social justice, participation and critical thinking), based on available research, information and publications. The document generated as a result of the survey should be presented in the format proposed by the Civic Initiative for education and will address the following:

  • Description/analysis of the problem / situation
  • Presentation and analysis of the current policy
  • Discussion of possible alternatives
  • Conclusions and recommendations.

The research may be based on office work using the available research data or the field work information already done by the researcher. Researchers can also conduct new interviews if needed.

The applicants must carry out their research within two months after the application is approved.

Research will be publicized, used in future initiatives, and researchers will be involved in the work undertaken by the Civic Initiative for education.

The Assessment commission formed by Coordination Council of the Civic Initiative for education  will select 15-20 best applications, each of which will receive 100,000 AMD financial aid.

In the planning, implementation phase, Civic Initiative for Education will provide informative and expert support.

INVITATION TO ATTEND THE MEETING WITH STUDENTS COMPLETING INDUSTRIAL OR PEDAGOGICAL INTERNSHIP

 On November 13th of 2018, at 14:00, at the Faculty of Economics, in # 39 (online) classrooms, YSUIB Professional Education Quality Assurance Department will hold a meeting with students, who have passed the industrial or pedagogical internship in 2017-2018 academic years.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the satisfaction of students with the organization and content of the internship, to bring about the problems that arise during the internship, to collect suggestions for the improvement of the internships.

The external stakeholders’ opinion on YSU Ijevan Branch interns and the agreement of interns of their professional and personal qualities assessment and other issues will be discussed.

We look forward to the presence and support of education program managers, interns’ supervisors, students and other stakeholders in improving the process of internship organization at the university.

SEMINAR ON “FUNDRAISING” AT YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

 On November 9th, 2018, YSU Ijevan Branch hosted an introductory seminar on fundraising conducted by Hayk Tiraturyan, (World Wildlife Fund) WWF-Armenia Fundraising and Partnership manager.
The seminar was attended by students and representatives of administrative and professorial staff of YSU Ijevan branch.
The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the concept of fundraising, clarify fundraising types and trends, and present international funding programs by WWF-Armenia.
Trainer Hayk Tiraturyan explained the international term “CrowdFunding” which was considered one of the most important types of fundraising, mentioned its advantages, drawbacks and risks.
A well-funded GPS system and Volterman company, producing a multifunctional wallet with cameras, which succeeded to get a $ 2.677.616 US dollars funding, from the third attempt.
During the seminar, the main functions of WWF-Armenia, its projects and programs such as the Animal Adoption project, were also presented. It was mentioned what strategic actions have been taken to finance this project (for example, provide funding entities or companies with gifts and certificates).
The seminar on “Fundraising” was in an interactive and engaging atmosphere, the students asked the trainer their questions and received exhaustive answers.

SEMINAR ON “THE ESSENCE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS” AT YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

On November 9, 2018, YSU Ijevan branch hosted a seminar on “Public Relations” (PR), conducted by WWF-Armenia Partnership and Communication manager Hermine Hakobyan.

The seminar was attended by YSUIB staff and students of different faculties.

The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the peculiarities of PR (Public Relations), as well as to speak about PR tools, its influence and importance in the modern world.

What are the prerequisites for PR formation?
What is the essence of public relations?
What is black PR?

Trainer Hermine Hakobyan underlined that PR was a phenomenon that controlled your reputation with the goal of gaining audience’s support, an opportunity to have an impact on the audience’s opinion and behavior.

The seminar was held in an interactive and engaging atmosphere.

At the end of the discussion, a video clip about PR history and its development stages was demonstrated.

Hermine Hakobyan expressed her satisfaction with the active participation and interest of our students in the training, expressing willingness to continue the cooperation.
