Hovnanian Scholarships

Submission of applications for Spring term starts on November 01 and ends on November 10. Decision will be announced by the midst of January. Only local (Armenian) universities will be sponsored by Hovnanian Foundation.

Application Process

All interested parties matching the criteria listed below are eligible to apply for a Hovnanian scholarship
– Have Armenian origin (could be Armenian or other country citizens)
– Students pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at any local state universities, including American University of Armenia and French University
– Showed high academic performance in high school (as well as university if already matriculated)
– Hovnanian Foundation covers UP TO 50% from the tuition, so the applicant must have other sources of funding and show proof for the coverage of the remaining amount

Along with a completed application form the applicant must submit the following documents (no need for English translation):
– Passport copy
– Sealed letter from the university verifying your enrollment for a particular program with the indication of yearly tuition
– Acceptance letter from university (if not yet matriculated)
– Official transcript of grades ( from high school / university)
– For employed students – a letter from the employer indicating monthly net salary; for unemployed students – letter from parents’ employers indicating monthly net salaries, or letter about parents’ unemployment whenever applicable
– Resume or CV

Full application packages should be submitted in hard copy (signed) and left at our building’s security check-in

We prefer you use the English version of the application, but if you are unable to respond in English, you may use the Armenian application.

The printed application forms are also available at our security on Hanrapetutyan 37 Street.
Notwithstanding the criteria set forth for award of scholarships in these guidelines, the Board of the Foundation may consider as it deems appropriate any special circumstances, such as a personal hardship or particular need of the applicant or certain demonstrated history of service to those in need in the mid-Atlantic area of the USA or within the Armenian community by the applicant or applicant’s family and may waive certain criteria when making a scholarship award for educational purposes.

COMPETITION: “THIS UNBELIEVABLE KIND STORY HAPPENED TO ME”

 While watching daily news, we get an impression that only wars, violence, disasters, accidents, crimes, and in the best case, sports or entertainment happen in the world.

But there are good stories in our lives too, sometimes very surprising, unbelievable, but still real good stories worth telling to others.

And so, continuing 2015, 2016, 2017years essays competition organized by Mediamax , this time we are happy to announce the launch of “This Unbelievable Kind Story happened to me”, competition of essays  where you can write an essay on the most surprising, most unbelievable story of you or your relatives.

Competition Terms and Conditions:

– Armenian citizens aged 16 to 55 can take part in the competition, presenting essay on “This unbelievable kind story happened to me”.

– Unbelievable but real kind stories should be presented in the essays that have happened to the author or to his relatives.

– The maximum volume of the essay should not exceed 500 words. The essays that don’t meet this condition will be disqualified.

 – The participants guarantee that the story described in the essay is real. A participant who does not meet this condition will be disqualified.

 – The participants guarantee that they are the authors of the presented works. In case of copyright infringement, the participant will be disqualified.

– The participants guarantee that the essay is written for “This Unbelievable Kind Story happened to me” essay competition and has never been published in the print media or online (websites, social media). The participant will be disqualified, if he/she does not meet this condition.

– The language of the competition is Armenian. The essays sent in other languages will not be considered.

The competition starts in 2018, October 15 and will last till 2018, October 26, at 4:00 pm. The winner will be announced on November 5, 2018. The awarding ceremony will take place on November 13, when the World Kindness Day is celebrated.

– All essays of the contest will be published in the special “This unbelievable Kind story happened to me” section of www.Mediamax.am website, except for the works that will not meet the requirements of the competition and will contain insulting statements and inappropriate materials.

– The essays should be sent to contest@mediamax.am , subject: UN_Mediamax.

– Participants should also send a copy of e- passport, phone number, and high quality photograph of a large size (for publication). Participants without the passport copy, photo and phone number will not be able to take part in the competition.

– The main prize of the competition is money prize of 400 000 AMD.

– The winners of the second and third places will receive 200 000 and 100 000 AMD respectively.

– The winners of the competition will be determined by the jury of the United Nations Population Fund Organization (UNFPA) and Mediamax.

HEAD OF YSU IB LIBRARY TOOK PART IN THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN CRIMEA

Head of YSU Ijevan branch library Vladimir Poghosyan took part in the international conference of young public figures of CIS and Eastern European countries and of Russian language and literature teachers in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea of the Russian Federation on October 7-11, 2018.

The visit was organized within the framework of the Rossotrudnichestvo “New Generation” program from Armenia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, Bulgaria and Poland (http://rs.gov.ru/ru/news/35690?category_id=9).

The main purpose of the conference was to establish direct contacts with the multiethnic population of Crimea and to get acquainted with the activity of state and non-governmental organizations of the region.

Within the framework of the visit, the program participants had a meeting with the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstatinov (http://crimea.gov.ru/news/08_10_2018_1), the Minister of Education of the Republic of Crimea Natalia Goncharova and with the professorial staff and students of the Faculty of Slavonic Philology and Journalism of the Crimea Federal University.

Within the framework of the visit, the program participants met with Yalta Deputy Mayor Elena Pereverzova (https://yalta.rk.gov.ru/ru/article/show/11029), and then visited International Children’s Center “Artek”, got acquainted with the activities of the children’s center, education programs and works with children and youth.

YSU IB STAFF AND STUDENTS AT THE REGIONAL FORUM

Tavush Regional State College hosted a regional forum on “Secondary Education and Labor Market, General Education and Professional Orientation, “Problems and their Solutions”, organized by the “Partnership and Teaching” Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), in particular by NGO Executive Director Artashes Torozyan on October 10, 2018.

The forum was attended by the director of the college, the president of “Young Tavush” Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), the president of “Progress” Social Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), the director and staff of the Regional Employment Help Center, school directors, teachers, college students and other representatives.

The students and staff of YSU Ijevan branch, in particular the director’s adviser Arman Yeganyan, coordinator of the work with the graduates and external stakeholders Erine Gharayan, employee of Human Resources Management Nara Ghazaryan also took part in the regional forum.

The aim of the forum was to discuss with the representatives of educational institutions of the region the issues of secondary education, labor market, professional orientation in the field of General Education and find solutions to the problems.

During the regional forum, a group game-discussion was held; each institution should present the 5 most commonly encountered issues in the labor market.

Due to the thorough discussions and recommendations of YSU IB staff and students, the five most commonly encountered issues were mentioned;

  1. absence of workplace,
  2. not regarding educational internship as an experience;
  3. the topicality of studies,
  4. self-development problem,
