2018-2019 ACADEMIC YEAR SECOND SEMESTER MID-TERM AND FINAL EXAMS ARE BEING CONDUCTED AT YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

On April 8-13, 2019, YSU Ijevan Branch (Full-time system of education) hosts first mid-term and final examinations for 2018-2019 academic years, second semester.

According to Arkady Davtyan, Head of Educational-Methodological Department, the examinations are carried out in accordance with the established order (the order of organizing Bachelor’s Degree educational process) at the 9th week of the semester.

In accordance with the established procedure mid-term and final exam questions are provided to the students in advance, and the tickets, variants, tests are signed by the head of the department, sealed by the dean of the faculty, then the examinations are held.

Written mid-term examinations are conducted in the classrooms equipped with cameras.

After each exam or test, the lecturer conducts a discussion with the students.

Oral and test exams are assessed directly on the spot (in the classroom), and written examinations are checked by the lecturer within 7 days and discussed with students.

The transparency and publicity of the examination process is ensured by publishing the results of the exams at YSUIB official website.

The results of the mid-term examinations are discussed at the sessions of the Academic Councils and Departments.

“ME AND THE SURROUNDING WORLD” FIRST SEMINAR-DISCUSSION WITH TEACHERS HELD YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

 On April 6th, 2019, YSU Ijevan Branch hosted a meeting with Acting Head of Tourism Management and Cultural Studies Department, co-author of the textbook “Me and the surrounding world”, G. Hovhannisyan with the teachers of # 1 school after S.Sargsyan and # 5 Primary school after M. Martirosyan.

The lecture covered the subject matter of the textbook “Me and the surrounding world”.

G.Hovhannisyan answered teachers’ questions, in general, introduced his views and concerns.

He underlined that such meetings aim to reveal the problems faced by teachers during their teaching, as well as provide them with methodological and professional assistance.

The teachers welcomed the initiative and proposed to organize such meetings in the format of discussion of proposals and remarks that they had previously submitted in the beginning of the next academic year.

STUDENTS’S VISIT, CHEMISTRY EXPERIMENTS AND BOOK PRESENTATION

On April 5th and 6th, 2019, YSU Ijevan Branch hosted the students of Hovk Secondary School and Ijevan High School.

Slavik Alaverdyan, Inspector of YSU Ijevan Branch Professional Orientation and Practice Department, warmly welcomed the guests, introduced the history of the Branch and the faculties, classrooms, art studios and laboratories.

The students of Hovk Secondary school took a part in some of the classes in the faculties of Applied Arts and Humanities.

The students of Ijevan High School attended the spectacular experiments of chemistry conducted by YSU Associate Professor, Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, PhD Robert Adamyan, Acting Head of YSUIB Department of General Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Associate Professor, PhD Gevorg Simonyan and Associate Professor of the same Department, PhD Hmayak Isakhanyan.

After the experiment, the presentation of the first volume of Robert Adamyan’s book entitled “Inorganic Chemistry” was held at YSUIB Library. Acting Director of YSUIB, Associate professor, PhD A. V. Tsutsulyan, G. Simonyan, H. Isakhanyan and others introduced the book and delivered a speech.

FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS OF YSUIB PART-TIME TRAINING “TOURISM” SPECIALTY DELIVERED REPORTS IN ENGLISH ON “PLACES OF INTEREST IN ARMENIA”

On April 5th, 2019, first-year students of “Tourism” specialty, Part-time training system of Ijevan Branch of “Yerevan State University” Foundation delivered reports in English on “Places of Interest in Armenia”.

The event was initiated and organized by Anna Karapetyan, PhD, assistant of English Language and Literature Department.

Students accompanied by presentations introduced some of the places of interest in Armenia.

Particularly, they talked about the beautiful Gosh lake near the village of Gosh in Tavush region, the length of which is 100 meters, the width is 80 meters, the maximum depth is 8 meters, and the water temperature in summer reaches only 14 degrees Celsius. It was noted that in this area you can meet different types of monuments, various rock formations, mineral springs, etc.

Lastiver, a paradise, with dense woods, caves, beautiful waterfalls and rivers, was also presented. Lastiver is one of the most favorite places for active leisure, both among the citizens of the country and the tourists. At the caves a marvelous view opens: the waterfalls of Lastiver, which are really considered to be wonders of Nature.
Lastiver Cave is hard to access on a cliff face, and the entrance has been partially protected with an ancient wall. At the river, which has beautiful cascades and rapids, there is a campground built, with amenities.

The students also talked about the monastery of Sevanavank in Gegharkunik region, on the Sevan peninsula, founded in 305, by Gregory the Illuminator.

First-year students of “Tourism” specialty also introduced Lake Sevan and some other interesting places.

They were exceedingly excited and touched, as it was the first time they were delivering reports in English and they expressed desire to participate more frequently in such class activities.

TRAINING COURSE ON “A VIRTUAL WORK ENVIRONMENT” FOR YSU IJEVAN BRANCH LECTURERS

In the second semester of 2018-2019 academic years, “A Virtual Work Environment” qualification and training course, included in “Information and Communication Technologies” module, is being held at YSU Ijevan Branch, conducted by YSU Ijevan Branch worker Anna Manucharyan.

YSUIB 14 lecturers take part in the training course.

“A Virtual Work Environment” training course aims to introduce listeners to the online Moodle learning system, ways of presenting knowledge in the online domain, and student-student and lecturer-student interaction rules in the virtual domain.

Students entering the system can get complete information about the overall description of the course, the necessary literature, the assigned tasks, and the deadlines for their implementation.

The Moodle system makes it easy for students to work because the individual’s personal work is clearly visible there. In addition, on the platform, students have the opportunity to ask questions to the lecturer and get their answers, organize discussions between each other.

At the end of the course, the lecturers will be able to create different types of learning resources in the online learning system, monitor student work, have the ability to work in an online learning system and design a complete e-learning course.
