SECOND AND THIRD-YEAR STUDENTS OF “ARMENIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE” DEPARTMENT VISITED AZATAMUT

 On March 15th, 2019, the 2nd and 3rd year students of YSUIB Faculty of Humanities of “Armenian language and Literature” Department headed by  Associate Professor, PhD, Head of Armenian language and Literature Department V. Avagyan, visited the House of Culture of Azatamut community.

The visit aimed to organize an event dedicated to the history of the Balasyans living in the same community, as well as to prominent figures, particularly Garnik Balasyan.

Lilit Balasyan, 2nd year student of the “Armenian language and Literature specialty delivered a report, which was filled with exciting and remarkable information about their dynasty.

Lilit’s grandfather, Garnik Balasyan, was a philologist, journalist, wrote poems, some of which were performed by students during the event. The students also performed songs accompanied by piano.

Garnik Balasyan’s friends Ashot Mardanyan and Fedya Ghukasyan, who are also philologists, introduced interesting stories.

The third year student of the same specialty, Kristine Kocharyan, presented the story of her dynasty.

At the end of the visit, Acting Mayor of Azatamut Vahagn Alaverdyan conveyed his gratitude to the universitarians for such an initiative, owing to which the university-community cooperation is expanding.

The visit ended with a reception.

WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF YSUIB STUDENTS, THE RESULTS OF “YOUTH: PARTNER OF SELF-GOVERNING BODIES” FOUR-MONTH PROGRAM CONCLUDED

 On March 15th, 2019, Ijevan Municipality concluded the results of  “Youth: partner of Self-Governing Bodies” 4-month program.

The program included 17 youth aged 18-20 who are students of YSU Ijevan Branch.

They had the opportunity to develop and empower their knowledge and skills in the civil society, to bring the Self-Governing Bodies- Youth connection to a new level and to make the voice and suggestions of the youth heard at the local level.

Within the framework of the program, trainings were organized on capacity building of the group members, mechanisms of advocacy, identifying needs and conducting surveys, design and implementation of community programs, and mechanisms for cooperation between parties in the decision-making process.

Participants learned how to plan advocacy steps, identify the problem, map existing internal and external resources, assess needs, and more. They also conducted public opinion polls, based on the results of which a package of proposals was submitted to the local self-governing bodies.

During the meeting with the Ijevan mayor and council members, with the participation of the partner organizations, “Oxygen Foundation” and “World Vision”, YSUIB representatives, the group presented recommendations to the community to strengthen cooperation between young people and local Self-Governing Bodies. It was suggested that, for example, allocate funding for small youth initiatives by the Ijevan community budget, as local grants.

Ijevan Mayor Vardan Ghalumyan, welcoming the participants, highlighted the initiative of the youth and expressed readiness to cooperate and implement joint projects. He mentioned that with the council he would definitely discuss the proposals and make contacts with the youth more frequently.

All the participants received certificates.

The program’s main result is that it brings the partnership between youth and local Self-Governing Bodies a new level, which will promote the youth participation in the community discussion and new ideas. In addition, youth employment promotion “Youth: partner of Self-Governing Bodies” program implemented by “EU for Youth, Skills for the Future” (2018-2020), in cooperation with the Ijevan Municipality and “World Vision” international Organisation.

AN EVENT DEDICATED TO INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY HELD AT YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

 On March 16th, 2019, at YSUIB Faculty of Humanities, an event dedicated to International Women’s Day was organized by the Head of English Language and Literature Department, PhD, Associate Professor Kristine Harutyunyan.

The event was attended by the representatives of administrative and professorial staff of the faculty, members of the Department, students of different specialties, 1st-year students of “Foreign languages” specialty.

The language of the event dedicated to Women’s day was not only English, but also French, Russian and the native language.

During the event, they presented the background of Women’s Day and the tradition of celebrating it in different countries.

The audience enjoyed songs and poems in English, French, Russian, Armenian and Ukrainian, then a beautiful dance performance.

At the end of the event, students gave greetings and flowers to the lecturers present at the event.

Then Acting Dean of the Faculty of Humanities K. Poghosyan, Head of English Language and Literature Department K. Harutyunyan delivered a speech and expressed their gratitude and wished them to be always creative and energetic, always show high academic performance.

TAVUSH ADMINISTRATIVE REGION AND YSU IJEVAN BRANCH PRESENTED THE LAUNCH OF TECHNOLOGY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

 On March 15th, 2019, the details of the technology educational program launched in Tavush Region were presented at the press conference in Tavush Administrative Region and YSU Ijevan Branch.

Firstly, Governor of Tavush Region Hayk Chobanyan, Executive Director of “Gyumri Information Technologies Center” Amalya Eghoyan and Acting Director of YSU Ijevan Branch Artak Tsutsulyan held a joint press conference in Tavush Administrative Region. The conference was attended by Sofya Hovsepyan, member of RA National Assembly

On the agenda were the technology educational program launched in Tavush region, the strategic significance of high-tech industry for Tavush region.

“The development of high technologies in the regions will become a serious step in strengthening them. This is a real opportunity to create jobs for IT-interested youngsters; thereby preventing migration from the region and from Armenia in general,” underlined Hayk Chobanyan, the Governor of Tavush region.

Then, YSU Ijevan Branch hosted a meeting to present the details of the technology educational program implemented by Gyumri Information Technologies Center (GITC) in Tavush region.

The meeting was attended by Tavush Region Governor Hayk Chobanyan, Acting Director of Ijevan Branch of “Yerevan State University” Foundation Artak Tsutsulyan, Director of GITC Amalya Yeghoyan, Primate of Tavush Diocese Bagrat Bishop Galstanyan, Member of RA National Assembly Sofya Hovsepyan, lecturers, students, teachers, pupils, media representatives and others interested in technology.

On February 22, 2019, a trilateral memorandum was signed between Tavush Administrative Region, GITC and YSU Ijevan Branch. The parties agreed to unite their efforts in promoting the development of information and communication technologies in Tavush Region. This is the start of GITC educational program in Ijevan, co-funded jointly by the Fund of Armenian Relief.

During the meeting, A. Tsutsulyan expressed his gratitude for the interest, then introduced the purpose of the program, the opportunities available at YSU Ijevan Branch, and urged all those interested to take part in the program.

H. Chobanyan expressed his willingness to support the implementation of programs promoting the development of the region, highlighted the role of information technologies, emphasized the importance of being bordering region, the necessity of using applied technologies specifically for security, thanked GITC for starting activities in Tavush region.

S. Hovsepyan mentioned in her speech that although she was from Shirak region, she frequently visited Tavush (in particular within the framework of “To Support Border Settlement Residents” initiative) and received positive impressions in Tavush and shared the advantages and achievements of Tavush in other regions.

A. Yeghoyan introduced the successful experience of GITC in Gyumri and Vanadzor, noting that the program aimed to keep the Tavush residents in their homeland and to create a decent working environment, hoping that in case of success of the project, further investments would be made in the field and technological center would be opened in Tavush.

Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan expressed his gratitude to everyone and blessed the launch of the project.

Afterwards, A. Yeghoyan introduced the program structure and the program coordinator, Liana Nersisyan, 2nd-year student of YSUIB “Informatics and Applied Mathematics” Faculty.

She expressed special gratitude to YSU Ijevan Branch lecturer Slavik Alaverdyan, who called GITC attention to Tavush Region. The latter mentioned that he took part in two national IT conferences “Empowering Regions through High-Tech”, the first held on November 17, 2017, where he presented the potential of Tavush region for the development of the technology sector and he was so pleased that after a year and a half, the program launched and added that he would also participate in the training and called for active involvement in the program.

The participant of the same conference, lecturer at Dilijan State College, “Armath” employee Narine Danielyan,  welcomed the program, mentioning that she immediately applied to take part in the program and quoting Tavush Region Governor’s words, if necessary, Tavush Administrative region should solve the transportation problem of the participants.

At the end of the meeting, Amalya Yeghoyan answered participants’ questions and mentioned that there would be a meeting on the technical details of the program and encouraged to follow the news.

STUDENTS OF TAVUSH REGION SCHOOLS: GETTING ACQUAINTED WITH YSU IJEVAN BRANCH

 Since 2019 March, Tavush Region School students make cognitive visits to Ijevan Branch of “Yerevan State University” Foundation.

On March 13th, the Branch hosted the 12th graders of Achajur Secondary School after Hrant Tamrazyan. The visit was initiated by Diana Sardaryan, third-year student of “Elementary Pedagogy and Methodology” Department, head of Achajur Community Development Volunteer Group.

On March 14th, YSU Ijevan Branch hosted the 11th graders of Ijevan College, accompanied by physics teacher Nara Khachatryan.

Slavik Alaverdyan, Inspector of YSUIB Department of Professional Orientation and Practice, introduced the history and professions available at the Branch, library, classrooms, computer halls, English Resource Center, gym, Applied Arts Studios and artwork decorating the walls of the university.

Achajur school students also visited Tavush Tourism R&D Center, whose representatives organized a city tour for them.

Ijevan College students enjoyed the spectacular physics experiments, conducted by YSUIB Assistant of General Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department, PhD Alexan Margaryan and Gegham Gulakyan, lecturer of the same Department.
